(12/31/09) REMINDER: Visit us in Booth 223A at the 2010 ASSA Meetings and see the new TSP 5.1/Oxmetrics 6.0. The usual 20% meeting discount applies if you order there.

(12/31/09) The online version of the January 2010 newsletter announcing TSP 5.1 has just been released.

(10/23/09) TSP will be at the 2010 ASSA meetings in Atlanta, Georgia. As usual, we will share a booth with Timberlake Consultants. Clint Cummins and Bronwyn Hall will be there at various times during the meetings.

(9/28/09) With the release of the new TSP 5.1, the website has also been completely revised and updated. Please send us email at news at tspintl.com if you spot a problem.

(9/28/09) Release of TSP Version 5.1. This new release contains a number of enhancements described here. The Windows version is now available with the latest version of Oxmetrics (6.0), the renamed successor to Givewin. Updates to 5.1 for MacOS and unix are in preparation and should be available in early 2010.

With the release of this version, we are revising our pricelist to reflect increased costs and to adjust the upgrade pricing to the new versions. This is the first price increase in over ten years.

(8/28/09) A workaround for Vista 64 bit installations of TSP/Givewin is available here.

(1/8/09) TSP was at the 2009 ASSA meetings in San Francisco, our home port. We shared a booth with Timberlake Consultants, as in past years. Clint Cummins was there, and Bronwyn Hall was also around at times.

(1/1/09) The January 2009 edition of the TSP Newsletter was emailed this week. There is also an online version. If you did not receive one via email and would like to be on the mailing list in the future, you can subscribe here.

(2/20/08) The February 2008 edition of the TSP Newsletter was emailed this week. There is also an online version. If you did not receive one via email and would like to be on the mailing list in the future, you can subscribe here.

(1/15/08) Update on Windows Vista and TSP: The TSP and Givewin installers work fine on Vista and TSP 5.0 runs correctly from GiveWin (2.x). However, TLG (the older shell interface for TSP) does not work. Win32 TSP 5.0 also seems to work fine. Contact info@tspintl.com with any problems installing or running on Windows Vista.

(1/7/08) TSP was at the 2008 ASSA meetings in New Orleans. We shared a booth with Timberlake Consultants, as in past years.

(1/7/07) TSP was at the 2007 ASSA meetings in Chicago. We shared a booth with Timberlake Consultants, as in past years. Clint Cummins was there, and Bronwyn Hall was also around at times.

(12/21/06) Shipping backlog for TSP 5.0 finally cleared.

Thanks to some extra help, we have finally cleared the shipping backlog for TSP 5.0, for all printed/faxed orders. There are a few orders sent by email which are still being processed. We also upgraded our email software to filter junk mail and spam better, so we will return to a normal response time on emails soon.

(12/21/06) Does TSP 5.0 run on Windows x64? Vista?

Windows x64: Win32 TSP runs. The installers on the CD do not run. However, Win32 TSP can be installed from the runmew.exe file, downloaded from our website. We plan to make new 32-bit installers which should run normally on x64. We do not know if TSP/GiveWin runs on x64.

Windows Vista: We don't know if TSP runs on this, but it probably does. If you have Windows Vista and have tried installing TSP on it, please let us know how it went. This item is superseded by Vista news in January 2008.

(12/21/06 Is there a 64-bit version of TSP 5.0?
A 64-bit version of TSP 5.0 for RS/6000 is available, in memory sizes up to 8GB.
We have ported TSP to various 64-bit systems in the past, such as DEC Alpha and SGI IRIX64; it is usually fairly simple to do so.

TSP is not yet ported to native 64 bit versions of Linux and Windows x64. We are in the process of installing a 64-bit PC and compiler, and will create a 64-bit version which may yield a speed improvement of 20-30%. However, there will still be a 8GB memory limit, until some major internal changes are made. [TSP 5.0 uses 32-bit integers to address its 4-byte integer memory array. These will need to be changed to 64-bit integers to allow memory usage over 8GB.]

(3/30/06) TSP 5.0 for MacOS X released.
Two versions are included on the CD - a standard interface version, and the Terminal version. Features include:

  1. batch file selection with Open File dialog box. [however, this dialog box is not yet fully functional, because you can't open .TSP files in other folders....]
  2. scrolling text window for interactive mode
  3. graphics in PLOT/GRAPH
  4. set creator type when writing Excel files
  5. handles old Mac text .TSP files with CR end-of-line byte (as well as new Mac text files, which use LF for end-of-line)

Check out the install/usage notes and screenshots

(12/31/05) For more news items, see our news archive.

RS/6000 AIX 5.1 TSP 5.0 port completed. (PC/Windows, Sun, and Linux ports done previously). Update (Jan 2006): 64-bit AIX versions created in 2gb to 8gb sizes. Still to be ported: possibly Linux/Itanium.

(9/5/05) TSP 5.0 for MacOS X - Terminal version. A version of TSP 5.0 for MacOS X which runs from the Terminal application (like a unix shell) has been completed.

(5/12/05) Linux TSP 5.0 port completed (PC/WIndows and Sun ports done previously).

TSP International is starting an (occasional) email newsletter with helpful hints and announcements of new features (including the long-awaited Version 5.0). If you have not already received this announcement via email you can sign up for the newsletter here.

(1/9/05) Clint Cummins was not at the 2005 ASSA Meetings in Philadelphia January 7-9, due to a plane reservation snafu. Yes, he discovered it is easy to book a flight from San Jose, Costa Rica, instead of from San Jose, California! He did spend the 4 days finishing the last major new feature in TSP 5.0 instead (ANALYZ extensions).

(8/28/04) Bronwyn Hall attended the 2nd OxMetrics User Conference in London (8/26-27/04).

(4/15/04) The Windows 2000 Update of 4/14/2004 blocks "extended DOS" programs like DOS/Win TSP, so it creates the same problems as in Windows XP. If you install this update (or the equivalent Windows NT 4.0 update), you will need to run TSP/GiveWin or Win32 TSP instead of DOS/Win TSP. To use the TLG interface with TSP 4.5, you will need to rename 2 files (see instructions in the FAQ). If you have TSP 4.4, you can download a Win32 TSP 4.4 (send us an email to ask how to do this), but note that Win32 TSP 4.4 does not have graphics and does not run with TLG.

(1/6/04) TSP (Clint Cummins) attended the 2004 AEA meetings in San Diego, CA. (1/3-5/04).

(6/30/03) Native Mac OS X version of TSP 4.5 in beta testing. This version is a "plain tty" program which runs in the unix shell (Utilities/Terminal) in Mac OS X. We also plan to produce a standard version with the graphical PLOT/GRAPH commands.
An alternative is to run the Mac OS 9 version of TSP, although it may take about 60 seconds to load the "Classic Environment Support" the first time TSP is run after turning on the Mac.

(8/30/02, 1/6/03) Will there be a native Mac OS X version of TSP? This question has been asked a lot in recent months. The answer is yes. The planned release date is 6/2003. [See beta testing news item above]. In the meantime, the Mac OS 9 version of TSP will run, although it may take about 60 seconds to load the "Classic Environment Support" the first time TSP is run after turning on the Mac.

(3/18/02) Advanced examples page updated  Some of the new examples include Generalized Impulse Response (invariant to equation ordering) and Hermite quadrature.
